Nuts and Bolts of Biotechnology Entrepreneurship

NYC Bio and the Center for Biotechnology announce a new seminar series, the "Nuts and Bolts of Biotechnology Entrepreneurship" to take place in four sessions from September to December.

Building on the New York City area's exceptional strengths in academia, medicine, business and finance, this series is designed to explore the practical legal and business aspects of technology commercialization. We aim to present the most important knowledge that every venture-minded innovator, academic faculty member, postdoctoral or graduate student needs to transition their ideas into companies. The four sessions are
1. "Entrepreneurship in the Biotechnology Industry," on September 2nd, 2009
2. "Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing," on October 7th, 2009
3. "Business plans 101: making the pitch," on November 11th, 2009
4. "Crossing the Valley of Death: guides to transitional, pre-seed and seed funding," on December 9th, 2009

Note: If you are arriving before 7:00 pm, you can use the 401 Park Avenue South entrance (between 27th and 28th Streets) to come to the Main Hall on the second floor. After 7:00 pm, you need to use the 110 East 28th Street entrance.

Time: 6:30-8:00 PM on September 2, October 7, November 11 and December 9, 2009.

The registration and payment are on a session by session basis and there is a uniform fee of $10 for each session.

The first session "Entrepreneurship in the Biotechnology Industry" will be held September 2 and feature panelists:

• Mark Wilson, President of Initiatives Consulting;
• Jeff Yablon, Director of Sales (North America) at Aris Global LLC;
• Jim Chinitz. CEO of Population Diagnostics; and
• Lorrence H. Green, President of Westbury Diagnostics.
